Abu Dhabi rooftop bars: open skies, pool decks and skyline seats

“Rooftop” can mean very different evenings: a terrace above the waterfront, a hotel pool deck or a room high above the city. The right choice depends on whether you want open air, a particular neighbourhood or simply a good view from your seat.

The short answer

Start with Siddharta Lounge for a Yas Bay rooftop, AT25 for a downtown poolside rooftop and Glo for a poolside skyline setting on Al Maryah Island. Ray’s Bar is an indoor high-floor alternative, not an open-air rooftop.

Siddharta Lounge: make Yas Bay your base

Siddharta Lounge belongs on the shortlist for an evening centred on Yas Bay. Its rooftop setting offers a different starting point from a dedicated club. Choose it when the group wants to meet somewhere with a sense of occasion before deciding whether to stay out later.

Ask for the seating area you want when reserving. “A table” is not a promise of a particular view. If dinner elsewhere is part of the plan, keep the bookings comfortably spaced; a terrace stop is less enjoyable when everyone is watching the clock. Check the current music programme if the soundtrack is a deciding factor.

AT25: the downtown rooftop option

AT25 is the poolside rooftop lounge at Marriott Hotel Downtown, Abu Dhabi. It is an option to investigate if you want a city setting rather than building the evening around Yas Bay. A rooftop drinks reservation and permission to use a hotel pool should be treated as different requests.

There is a useful reason to contact this venue directly: at our research check, Marriott’s dining page showed conflicting opening-day information in different sections. We have therefore left hours out of this guide. Ask the hotel to confirm your exact date, service time and whether the terrace is operating before arranging the rest of the evening.

Glo: a poolside evening on Al Maryah Island

Rosewood Abu Dhabi describes Glo as a poolside lounge with skyline views. It is a setting to consider when you want the pool-deck atmosphere without choosing a beach destination. Make the reservation around the evening experience you want, rather than assuming a pool-day offer carries into dinner.

When comparing Glo with a conventional rooftop bar, focus on the table and access terms. Can you book just for drinks or dinner? Does a day pass include anything you will actually use? What happens if you arrive after pool hours? Get those answers from the venue rather than interpreting a photograph as a list of inclusions.

Ray’s Bar: go high, stay indoors

Ray’s Bar is on level 62 at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers. It is included here as an alternative for readers seeking a skyline evening, with one clear distinction: this is an indoor bar. Do not book it expecting an open terrace.

An indoor setting may suit a group that values comfort and a long conversation more than being outside. Ask whether a window-side request can be confirmed and whether it carries different terms. If the seat is subject to allocation, decide whether you would still enjoy the venue without it.

Book the seat, not just the skyline

For any view-led venue, ask three practical questions: which area is reserved, whether outdoor seating is weather-dependent, and what alternative is offered if that area cannot operate. A written answer makes it much easier to compare two otherwise similar reservations.

Allow time to arrive and settle before the light you want. Check the sunset time for your actual date; do not use a fixed “golden hour” from an old itinerary. Keep a light layer available for an indoor alternative, and choose a second stop nearby only if the group really wants one. The view can be enough of a plan on its own.

Quick answers

Is Ray’s Bar a rooftop bar?

It is a high-floor indoor bar at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, not an open-air rooftop.

Does booking a poolside bar include swimming?

Do not assume so. Ask the hotel whether your booking is for lounge seating, a day pass or another specific access product.
